Career Update

It has been over a week since my last post. I took up a position with CLSA India Limited

CLSA is an award-winning brokerage, investment banking and private equity group in the Asia-Pacific Markets. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Hong Kong, CLSA is a unit of France's Credit Agricole, which merged in 2003 with Credit Lyonnais, to form the 4th largest bank in the world by assets and the 2nd largest bank in the world by Tier One capital.

This was my first week at work. I have a wonderful sea facing seat in the office. Feels nice to look at the sea occassionally. The work culture is extremely professional and challenging. We have a superb data center with infrastructure that is world-class.

My only concern is that the working hours are very long because the IT function is extremely critical to the business and a downtime of even 3 minutes could be fatal. Couple that with long travelling times, I am unable to pursue any other interests at the moment.

In fact, I missed Tanu's party @ Bandra and the Dalhousie Trekkers meet @ Powai today, just because I did not want to travel in a train on Sunday and had lots of chores to finish off.

Overall, while this position could take away all my personal time, I am really enjoying it and am sure that it will add a lot of value to my profile. I suspect that I am becoming more workoholic, but isn't that alright ?
